Emergency medical assistance – 112

The National Assembly does not ensure emergency medical assistance on a permanent basis. In accordance with the regulations on occupational safety, it ensures first aid cabinets and staff trained to provide first aid.

The emergency number 112 should be called in the event of the need for emergency medical assistance.

When calling, you should state the following: your name, what, where, and when the occurrence happened, the signs of distress or what kind of injuries were sustained, any special circumstances, etc.

Two Fred Easy automated external defibrillators produced by Schiller are available at the National Assembly for resuscitation in the event of cardiac arrest.

A defibrillator is a portable electronic device that diagnoses life-threatening conditions, gives audio commands, and delivers an electrical shock to the patient’s heart to restore the normal heart rhythm. Anyone can operate one. With an AED someone witnessing an incident can start resuscitation measures long before the arrival of an EMT team and thus significantly increase the possibility of survival.

Instructions on how to use the defibrillator

  1. Open the cover.
  2. Turn the device on.
  3. Place the electrodes on the patient's chest.
  4. Wait for the device to analyse the heart rhythm.
  5. Follow the audio commands:
    a) If the device suggests an electro shock, make sure that no one is touching the patient and then press the shock button.
    b) If the device suggests CPR, proceed with the administration of CPR.

The defibrillators are located in the following locations:

  • the Security Unit room at the main entrance to the National Assembly on Šubičeva Street 4, opposite the reception desk (phone: 478 9525);
  • in Room 128/Š on the first floor on Šubičeva Street 4, to the left of the Great Hall (phone: 478 9528).

AED database of Slovenia

In 2012, the National Assembly offered its two defibrillators for public use and entered them into the AED database of Slovenia. On 3 July 2012, a sign was mounted in front of the National Assembly with an international mark signalling that in the building an AED is quickly and easily available to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
