The Kvorum Parliament Choir is composed of twentynine employees of the National Assembly and the National Council who share the passion for artistic creation and preservation of the Slovenian cultural heritage. The name of the choir is the parliamentary term ‘quorum’, which is a prerequisite for making decisions. Kvorum symbolises the comparable indispensability and symbiosis of the National Assembly’s and the National Council’s staff in the activities of the two institutions.
The choir is conducted by pianist Ana Maria Beguš (1995). She studied at the Academy of Music of the University of Ljubljana in the class of professor Tatjana Ognjanovič, where she received her Master’s Degree with distinction in September 2019. She also attends courses given by Prof. Ruben Dalibaltayan at the Talent Music Master Courses Academy in Brescia (Italy) to broaden her musical knowledge. She performs and competes both at home and abroad and regularly participates in seminars and masterclasses of internationally renowned professors.
The choir has a rich repertoire, including both classical Slovenian choral songs as well as choral adaptations of Slovenian and foreign pop songs. The choir was established in February 2018 and meets once a week.
The conductor about working with the parliament choir:
"But I started a conducting class while I was at the Academy. Ever since, my hidden wish has been to conduct a small choir and inspire people, spread the love for music and show that music is accessible to everyone.”
