Cooperation with the European Parliament

The European Parliament must keep the national parliaments of the Member States regularly informed of its activities, in accordance with its own rules of procedure. Administrative cooperation takes place at several levels, notably through the Directorate for Relations with National Parliaments and the permanent representatives of the national parliaments of the Member States, who monitor the work of the European Parliament and keep their respective parliaments up to date.
Information on parliamentary work, especially concerning legislation, is disseminated through an online data and communication network called IPEX, which is supported via an electronic data-exchange and communication platform.
The President of the European Parliament may also, on the basis of reciprocity, adopt measures for enhanced cooperation with national parliaments.

In accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, Slovenian MEPs may attend meetings of the Committee on European Union Affairs and the Committee on Foreign Policy when the latter decides on EU affairs.1 When attending meetings on EU affairs, they have the right to join the discussion, but do not have the right to vote.
