Work experience
After having graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana in 1994, he became a teaching assistant and later obtained a master's degree in management as well as a PhD from the same faculty.
He was guest researcher at the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, USA, in 1999. He worked as Assistant Professor of management at the Ljubljana Faculty of Economics until April 2004 when he was appointed minister of the economy.
In 2004, he was elected deputy of the National Assembly, and was appointed Vice-President of the Committee on Finance and Monetary Policy, Member of the Committee on Economy and Member of the Commission for Budgetary and other Public Finance Control. Currently, he is the leader of the deputy group Zares.
In 2006, he was promoted Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics, University Ljubljana.
